Visitation Academy: Living a Culture of Service

The Rockaway Wave featured Visitation Academy’s community service work in a story published January 22, 2018.

Students at Visitation Academy in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, have been busy this year not only with their academic and arts programs, but with a series of projects dedicated to serving others in the local area and beyond.

This year, by the start of the second trimester, student-led service projects included fundraisers for families and schoolchildren affected by Hurricane Harvey, for national breast cancer awareness organizations, and for assistance for victims of fires in New York City.  Donna Merlin, president of the St. Peter the Apostle Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Naples, Florida, the recipient of the Hurricane Harvey fundraising efforts, said that Visitation students “demonstrate the best of Christian values.”
