Middle School

Grades 5 through 8 – Algebra Regents Grade 8, Earth Science Regents Grade 8, Living Environment Regents Grade 7

Middle School is a time for girls to realize their potential as members of a learning community.  Our academic program fosters a broad base of intellectual curiosity and prepares the student for more advanced study in high school.

At Visitation, we know the importance of educating girls in our society and the positive impact they will make on the world as they mature into young woman.  Together we empower your daughters to realize their potential as learners and woman of faith; we seek to instill in our girls a strong character.  We want the students to demonstrate critical thinking skills, possess a core body of knowledge, and progress on a path toward high school success.  We work hard everyday to develop the scholarship, merit, responsibility, and sisterhood our girls need to thrive in elementary school and in high school.

Visitation Academy has an unwavering focus on providing rigorous, differentiated instruction in core subjects such as Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Religion, as well as Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Foreign Language – French.  Students use teamwork and problem solving when working on  projects.  By the end of 8th grade, the students have completed at least the equivalent of one year of high school French. Students also take the Living Environment Regents in grade 7 and the Earth Science and Algebra 1 regents in Grade 8. Visitation Academy is a part of the Gilder Lehrman American History Program.

Service Learning is an important part of our Middle School program, with students planning and leading community service efforts through the student council.  Salesian spirituality and leadership are infused throughout the curriculum.

The Sadlier We Believe program is used for religion.  The We Believe program helps the students, learn, celebrate, share, and live their Catholic faith.  The Diocesan Child Lures Safety Program  is also part of our religion program.

Middle School students also have the opportunity to participate in VA’s after-school enrichment activities, including:

Math Club

Eastern/Western Medicine

Debate Club

Our school places scholars in outstanding private, parochial, and public high school.  We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of all our graduates.

We are happy to announce our continued partnership with Fontbonne Hall Academy.  Visitation students desiring to attend Fontbonne Hall Academy for high school, do not have to take the TAHS exam; there is a separate application process for Visitation Academy students only.  As a benefit to those Visitation students completing the early application process, they will automatically be eligible for additional scholarships.
